Boosting Toddler Communication Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated…

4 days ago15 views Leave a comment

As a speech therapist and toddler mom, I know how overwhelming it can feel when you’re worried about your child’s speech and language development. You’re doing all the things—feeding, diapering, playing, cooking, cleaning, surviving—and the thought of adding one…

How I “Correct” My Toddler’s Errors as a Speech Therapist…

March 21, 202537 views Leave a comment

Recently, my toddler was referring to all vehicles as a “bus”. Didn’t matter if it was a car, plane, truck, etc. We call that ‘overgeneralization’ when they apply a learned skill or word too broadly. This is a typical…

Toddler tantrums…something we can’t avoid because it’s an inevitable way for our little ones to express their emotions while they’re learning how to feel. While they are inevitable, they don’t have to be impossible to handle. Why do they…

I know it sounds silly to say it, but even though I know it sounds silly to say it, but even though going on vacation is such a privilege, it was tough for me to leave my toddler behind. 🥲

Being away from her felt hard, but I also knew my husband and I needed to take time for ourselves. 🩵

I took a step back and realized that taking time for myself was about recharging, so I could fully show up as the best wife in the moment✨—and then be the best mom I can be when I’m with my daughter.

If you’re also juggling the desire to recharge with the pull of missing your little one, you’re not alone. 💗

Instead of asking your toddler what they see, show them how to say it! 🐶 ‘A dog! Woof!’

Keep it simple so that our toddlers can communicate back without the pressure.🩵
