Balancing Motherhood & Prioritizing Dedicated Focus

“It’s not hard taking care of a baby. It’s hard to do literally anything else while taking care of a baby.”

Ain’t that the truth loll. This is exactly why I personally need to be more intentional on what I consider to be priorities. It can be very easy for me to jump from chore to chore, task to task, but as a new mom, intentional focus is more important to me than ever.

I found a quote from a blog post I wrote in 2021: “With dedicated and intentional focus, there is more life to enjoy.” This rings so true to me now. If I’m not aware of my priorities, it can easily lead to missing important moments for the sake of doing mundane tasks.

I’ve been in the middle of tummy time sessions with my daughter and catch myself thinking “She needs to nap soon so I can do the laundry.” So not cool of me! What’s the priority – enjoying time with my daughter OR trying to finish ongoing chores that will never really be finished completely?

I’m not saying that we should never do the laundry (although…that sounds fine to me lol) but when we are intentional about how we spend our time, it makes it that much more enjoyable. If I’m not intentional, I find myself feeling guilt afterwards because my brain is in multiple places at once, not able to fully enjoy ONE thing at a time.

My new goal is to truly be in the moment when I’m with my family. Be focused when I’m working. Be dedicated when I’m working out. Those are my priorities. I know everyone has different priorities, but those are the top 3 for me and when I can create that focus, that’s when I feel the best.
