Providing our toddlers with space & silence can be tough, but when we can get comfortable in that discomfort, amazing things can happen. Our little ones can actually think about what we are saying to them and respond in their own way without us bombarding them with language. It’s less pressure for our little ones! 🩵 When they don’t feel like they’re being tested, they can then feel more comfortable to initiate communication without being “wrong”. Put your toddlers to work! 🙌🏼 Haha just kidding (mostly), but there are many opportunities to incorporate speech/language skills during household chores like laundry! 👗👖🧦 ✨You can: -Label familiar items: basket, shirt, pants, socks, water, bubbles; -Use action words: open, pour, close it, splash, weee, push, put in, take out; -Ask wh-questions (…sparingly 😅): where is your shirt?, where do you wear your socks? ☕️Our little ones loved to be involved and feel helpful! 🥹 Let them push/pull the laundry basket, help you fill the washing machine, push buttons, etc. 🤗 🎙️I talk about other ways to incorporate speech/language strategies in daily routines on the Talk Tea Podcast (episodes #34 & #41). 😊 🎧You can listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, & more).
